FAQs of OIL BREAKDOWN VOLTAGE (BDV) TEST SET:
Q: How is the Oil BDV Test Set used for testing transformer and circuit breaker oil?
A: The Oil BDV Test Set is used by placing an oil sample in the testing chamber, then gradually increasing the voltage up to 1000V AC to determine at what point the oils dielectric strength breaks down, helping assess its insulation quality.
Q: What benefit does the +/- 1% accuracy of this BDV Test Set provide?
A: The high accuracy ensures reliable and repeatable test results, crucial for evaluating insulation integrity and making informed maintenance decisions for electrical equipment.
Q: When should oil breakdown voltage tests be performed?
A: Oil BDV testing is recommended during routine maintenance schedules, before energizing transformers, or after oil replacement to verify the oil maintains adequate insulating properties.
Q: Where is this BDV Test Set most commonly used?
A: This equipment is typically found in transformer maintenance workshops, electrical utilities, and testing laboratories across India due to its robust construction and reliable performance.
Q: What is the process for conducting a BDV test with this equipment?
A: The process involves filling the test cell with the oil sample, setting the required parameters, and then gradually increasing the voltage until the breakdown is observed, with safety systems in place to protect both the user and the device.
Q: How does the Over Current Protection System enhance safety?
A: The over-current protection system automatically detects and interrupts any excess current during testing, minimizing the risk of equipment damage or operator injury.
